Costa Rica is full of wildlife, beautiful beaches, and even an active volcano. It has inspired many to go traveling. So if Costa Rica made it to your list, here are the top 5 places to visit when you go.
Beach, surfing, and party? Welcome to Puerto Viejo! This laid-back town is great for young backpackers. If the party scene isn’t for you, there are plenty of quiet hotels on the beach. And if you’re looking to spruce up your Tinder profile, head to the jaguar sanctuary for that “posing with big cat” profile picture.
Cahuita is an hour or so north of Puerto Viejo. There’s only 1 bar in this town so it’s not the most ideal party place. However, if you love quiet walks or just sitting and watching wildlife or if you need to dry out, Cahuita just might be your cup of tea.
Monteverde is the place to get a glimpse of the rare quetzal bird. There’s also a zip line so you can fly over the lush green, forest canopy where your screams can bounce off the trees.
If you’re in San Jose, you can take a day trip to visit the active volcano Paso Volcano. There are two sulfur lakes in craters of this volcano. They’re turquoise and look like globs of paint sitting in the mountain. This volcano has tallied over 400 eruptions 200 years, the last one being in 2017.
We couldn’t talk about Costa Rica without talking about their beautiful beaches. Manuel Antonio is one of the most famous, with white sand, blue sky, and warm ocean waters. Alternatively, there’s a national park to spend the day hiking instead of floating in the ocean. Whatever you decide to do, it beats being at work!
