Apple hires Manfred Harrer, a vice president of Porsche who specializes in chassis development. It’s pretty easy to guess that he joined the iPhone maker to work on the Apple Car.
According to Business Insider Germany, Manfred Harrer is considered one of the best engineers in the Volkswagen Group (parent company of Porsche). He was notably at the head of chassis development at Porsche before supervising the Cayenne range at the manufacturer. He worked in the Volkswagen group for 13 years. His previous employers were BMW and Audi.
So Manfred Harrer now works at Apple. The fact that he specializes in chassis development further reinforces the idea that Apple is preparing its own car. There have been a lot of rumors going around about the Apple car over the past few weeks. The most recent was released just a few hours ago. It would be to use Hyundai’s electric platform as the basis for the Apple Car.
