Barcelona is one of the most popular cities for tourists to visit in Europe. With its bustling nightlife, cultural experiences and beautiful beaches, anyone, on any budget, can enjoy this city. In this post, we’ll look at 3 different ways to see Barcelona and enjoy all it has to offer.

  • The Budget Trip
  • The Long Vacationer or the Quasi-Local
  • The Go All Out Trip

The Budget Trip

The cheapest way to do Barcelona and meet lots of friends is by staying at a hostel. This city in Spain isn’t the most expensive in Europe, but it’s also not the cheapest. A 7-day stay is perfect to see everything, go out to parties, and even have a few extra days to recover. Aim for a 50 euro per day spending limit and pack light. Not only will you be able to make your buck go further while you’re there, but you’ll also save money on airline baggage fees.

The Long Vacationer or the Quasi-Local

Instead of a quick week-long break, these people don’t have job obligations to go back to. If this is you, then do the long-vacationer or quasi-local stay. Airbnb offers discounts if you stay for a month or more, so this option will allow you to save money on lodging and settle into the local neighborhood.

Having your own kitchen means you can visit all the local markets, cook at home, and even make friends with your neighbors. On the weekends, you can choose to do some sightseeing and mingle with tourists. But most of your Barcelona experience will be about meeting locals at the bar or restaurant underneath your flat.

The Go All Out Trip

If budgeting isn’t a word you need to use frequently, then do Barcelona in style. Book the Hotel Colonial Barcelona, Hotel Espana, or any of the other luxury hotels that sit by the water. Instead of taking public transportation or car shares, you can book a private car service so that you can sightsee in air conditioning. No rubbing elbows with other tourists and no crowded lines.

These private transports don’t just apply to land vehicles, there are many private yachts that you can rent for an exclusive tour of the Balearic Sea. Private helicopter and jet charters are also available if the party of your choice just happens to be in Ibiza and you need to get to the island quickly.

No matter how you travel, there’s one thing everyone should do when they’re in Barcelona. Order a paella. Share it with the other people in your hostel, enjoy it at home with neighbors or eat it while overlooking the ocean on a quiet night.
